About this campground
Nestled beside the tranquil waters of Antilon Lake, this spacious camping area offers the perfect retreat for large groups seeking adventure in the great outdoors. Small RVs can easily navigate to this hidden gem, where anglers cast their lines into peaceful waters and paddlers glide silently across the lake in canoes, kayaks, or boats with electric motors. While the lake's cool depths aren't ideal for swimming, its serene surface mirrors the surrounding landscape, creating picture-perfect moments at sunrise and sunset. Savvy campers know to visit during the glorious spring months when wildflowers bloom, or in autumn when crisp air and golden light transform the area into a photographer's paradise.
The campground accommodates a variety of camping styles including group camping and small RVs. It is also suitable as a simple, no-frills overnight spot.
Weather and SeasonsSpring arrives at Antilon Lake with a burst of color and comfortable temperatures, making it the ideal season for outdoor enthusiasts. Fall brings its own magic, with cool mornings giving way to warm afternoons perfect for hiking and fishing. Summer transforms the landscape into a sun-drenched haven, where the dry heat creates stunning clear skies but calls for plenty of water and shade-seeking strategies. Winter visitors should note that when snow blankets the region, the area becomes a wonderland for snowmobilers, though traditional camping access becomes limited.
ElevationPerched at a comfortable 2,400 feet above sea level, Antilon Lake Campground strikes the perfect balance between mountain air and accessibility. This moderate elevation means small RVs can make the journey without the steep climbs that challenge vehicles at higher altitudes, while still enjoying the refreshing atmosphere that comes with camping above the valley floor.
Natural Features and SceneryAntilon Lake serves as the crown jewel of this camping area, its waters reflecting the vast sky above and creating a natural amphitheater of tranquility. During summer months, the landscape takes on a distinctive high-desert character, with golden grasses swaying in the breeze and the sun painting dramatic shadows across the terrain. The lake itself provides a cooling visual respite from the dry surroundings, attracting wildlife in the early morning and evening hours when temperatures drop and the area comes alive with natural activity.
