About this campground

Discover your perfect basecamp at Fort Stevens State Park, where adventure meets comfort across 170 full-hookup sites and over 300 electrical sites with water access. Choose from intimate tent camping at 6 scenic sites, cozy up in one of 15 rustic yurts (with 7 welcoming your furry companions), or indulge in the comfort of 11 deluxe cabins—5 of which are pet-friendly. Traveling light? Our hiker/biker sites offer the perfect rest stop for two-wheeled explorers. Please note that seasonal beach access restrictions help protect our precious nesting shorebirds, ensuring this coastal paradise thrives for generations to come.
The campground offers a wide range of camping options, including primitive sites, RV sites, tent sites, group sites, yurts, and cabins. Reservations are required for both yurts and cabins.
Historical SignificanceStep back in time at this storied military outpost, where Fort Stevens once stood guard over the Columbia River during World War II. Today, the park's most photographed resident is the haunting skeleton of the Peter Iredale, a four-masted steel ship that met its fate on these shores in 1906. This ghostly maritime monument rises from the sand like a sculpture crafted by time and tide, drawing photographers, history buffs, and dreamers from around the world.
Weather and SeasonsExperience the Pacific Northwest's ever-changing moods, where temperatures dance between a crisp 40°F and a comfortable 60°F throughout the year. Winter brings dramatic storms and cascading rain that transforms the landscape into a lush, emerald wonderland. As spring emerges, the clouds part to reveal endless blue skies and extended daylight hours, perfect for beach walks and forest exploration. Summer delivers those coveted Pacific Coast days—mild, sunny, and absolutely magical.
ElevationNestled at sea level where the mighty Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean, this coastal gem offers easy access to all adventures without the climb.
Natural Features and SceneryImmerse yourself in a stunning tapestry of Pacific Northwest landscapes, where windswept beaches stretch for miles alongside towering coastal dunes. Ancient forests drape the inland areas in emerald green, while pristine wetlands create vital habitats for an incredible array of wildlife. Keep your binoculars handy—the endangered Western Snowy Plover calls these beaches home, joined by countless seabirds, migrating waterfowl, and shore birds that make every sunrise a symphony of wings and song.
Geological RegionPerched at the northwestern tip of Oregon where the Columbia River surrenders to the Pacific, Fort Stevens State Park showcases the raw beauty of the Oregon Coast. This unique location within the Columbia River estuary creates a remarkable ecosystem where river meets sea, forest meets sand, and freshwater mingles with salt. The result is one of the most ecologically diverse coastal environments in the Pacific Northwest, offering visitors a front-row seat to nature's grand theater.
