Best Time to Camp at Jonathan Dickinson State Park Campground

Late fall, especially November, hits the sweet spot. Daytime highs settle in the mid-70s to mid-80s, nights cool to the upper 50s and low 70s, and humidity drops enough to make paddling comfortable. Bird migration picks up while afternoon thunderstorms fade. Bugs retreat. Winter through April stays mild and draws the biggest crowds. Spring gets rave reviews for weather. Summer turns brutal. Heat, humidity, and swarms of mosquitoes and gnats make camping miserable unless you're committed to bug spray and afternoon shade. Off-season means fewer people but real tradeoffs.
