About this campground

Nestled in the heart of pristine wilderness, Spring Valley Cabin and Bunkhouse invite you to step back in time and embrace the tranquility of mountain living. Wake to panoramic vistas that stretch across untouched landscapes, where elk graze in morning mist and wild turkeys call from ancient pines. Whether you're carving fresh tracks through powder on cross-country skis, exploring hidden trails by bike, or hiking through sun-dappled forests, this secluded haven promises adventure seekers and solitude lovers alike an unforgettable escape from the everyday.
The Spring Valley Cabin and Bunkhouse offer cabin-style lodging and accommodate both small and large groups. Primitive camping and tent sites are not available, as all accommodations are within the cabin and bunkhouse.
Historical SignificanceStep through the door of history when you enter the Spring Valley Cabin, a lovingly preserved 1917 ranger residence that has sheltered forest guardians for over a century. The accompanying bunkhouse, which once buzzed with the daily operations of forest management, tells its own tales of dedication to wilderness preservation. Today, these historic structures continue their legacy of service, occasionally hosting U.S. Forest Service teams who carry on the tradition of protecting these precious lands.
Weather and SeasonsExperience the dramatic beauty of four distinct mountain seasons at Spring Valley. Winter transforms the landscape into a crystalline wonderland, where snow blankets the meadows and occasional storms create perfect conditions for cross-country skiing. Summer arrives with gentle warmth and afternoon thunderstorms that roll across the peaks, bringing the fresh scent of rain-washed pine. The mountain's moods can shift quickly at this elevation, creating an ever-changing canvas of weather that adds excitement to every visit.
ElevationPerched at an invigorating 7,320 feet above sea level, Spring Valley offers a natural escape to crisp, clean mountain air and temperatures that provide blessed relief from summer heat. This elevated paradise rewards visitors with breathtaking vistas that seem to stretch forever, while the thin air reminds you that you've truly ascended to a special place above the ordinary world.
Natural Features and SceneryAt 7,320 feet, Spring Valley unfolds as a masterpiece of high-country beauty, where towering ponderosa pines stand like ancient sentinels over sweeping meadows. This elevated sanctuary serves as nature's grand theater, where herds of majestic elk move through morning shadows, mule deer bound across open spaces, and the haunting calls of coyotes echo under starlit skies. The landscape transforms with the seasons—from winter's pristine snowscapes to summer's wildflower-dotted meadows—creating an ever-changing tapestry of natural wonder.
Geological RegionRising from the heart of the Kaibab National Forest at 7,320 feet, Spring Valley occupies a stunning geological perch where ancient forces have sculpted a perfect mountain retreat. Mature ponderosa pines, some centuries old, frame sweeping views across a broad meadow that serves as a natural amphitheater for the surrounding peaks. This high-elevation ecosystem represents millions of years of geological artistry, creating a landscape that captures the raw beauty and grandeur of the American Southwest's mountain country.
