Whether you're planning an intimate gathering for 12 overnight guests or a memorable daytime event for up to 50 people, Green River Lakes Lodge serves as your gateway to the Bridger-Teton National Forest's most spectacular landscapes. Here, crystal-clear waters mirror towering peaks while endless trails beckon hikers, anglers cast lines into legendary trout waters, and paddlers glide across alpine reflections.
The Green River Lakes Lodge provides a mix of day-use and overnight accommodations in a remote and scenic wilderness setting.
Historical SignificanceWhile the lodge's story may be relatively recent, it stands as a testament to Wyoming's enduring tradition of wilderness hospitality, offering modern adventurers a chance to experience the raw beauty that has drawn explorers to these mountains for generations.
Weather and SeasonsEach season transforms this high-country haven into a distinct adventure playground. Summer brings warm days perfect for trail exploration and lakeside relaxation, while autumn paints the landscape in gold and ushers in prime hunting season. When winter blankets the wilderness in snow, the lodge becomes a coveted basecamp for ice fishing enthusiasts and snowmobilers seeking powder-filled adventures. Be prepared for dramatic temperature swings and winter's requirement for snowmobile access—your journey to this frozen wonderland is part of the adventure.
ElevationPerched at a breathtaking 8,000 feet above sea level, the lodge exists in that rare alpine realm where the air is crisp, the stars shine brighter, and every sunrise feels like nature's grand performance. This lofty elevation shapes everything from the weather patterns to the crystalline quality of the light that bathes Square Top Mountain each morning.
Natural Features and SceneryImagine waking to the sight of Square Top Mountain's distinctive flat summit reflected perfectly in the mirror-like waters of Green River Lake. This spectacular setting at 8,000 feet elevation places you at nature's doorstep, where elk bugle in autumn meadows, moose wade through marshy shallows, and golden eagles soar overhead. The surrounding wilderness offers a tapestry of alpine lakes, cascading streams, and trails that wind through some of the most photographed landscapes in the American West.
Geological RegionStanding at the dramatic western gateway to the Wind River Range and Bridger Wilderness, the lodge occupies one of Wyoming's most geologically stunning locations. Here, ancient granite peaks rise abruptly from emerald lakes, creating the iconic silhouette of Square Top Mountain—a geological masterpiece carved by millennia of ice and time. This rugged landscape, where pristine waters collect in glacier-carved basins and wildlife roams freely through untouched forests, represents the very essence of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem's wild heart.
