About this campground

Tucked away in the heart of the wilderness, East Fork Campground offers an intimate escape where the melodic sounds of Big Goose Creek's East Fork create nature's soundtrack. This hidden gem sits peacefully among a network of babbling streams and crystal-clear mountain waters, just two miles north of the serene Park Reservoir. Here, simplicity meets solitude in a setting that feels worlds away from civilization.
East Fork Campground features 11 basic camping sites suitable for tents and small vehicles. RV camping is discouraged due to steep, eroded dirt roads leading to the site.
Historical SignificanceWhile the campground itself may not bear historical markers, the surrounding wilderness holds centuries of untold stories within its ancient pines and pristine streams, offering visitors a chance to create their own legacy in this timeless landscape.
Weather and SeasonsExperience the dramatic dance of mountain weather at East Fork, where winter transforms the landscape into a snow-dusted wonderland with temperatures hovering between the upper 20s and low 40s. As spring awakens the forest, warmer weeks bring delightful temperatures approaching 70°F, painting the meadows with wildflowers. Summer unveils endless blue skies and perfect camping weather, while autumn wraps the lodgepoles in golden light and crisp mountain air.
ElevationPerched at 7,600 feet above sea level, East Fork Campground invites you to breathe in the crisp, thin air of the high country. This elevated sanctuary offers naturally cooler temperatures and that distinctive mountain atmosphere where the stars seem close enough to touch and mornings arrive with a refreshing chill that invigorates the soul.
Natural Features and SceneryA single loop road winds through a cathedral of towering lodgepole pines, creating an enchanting forest campground where shafts of sunlight filter through the dense canopy. Beyond the treeline, expansive meadows stretch toward distant peaks, frequently visited by majestic moose who graze peacefully in the early morning mist. While the closely spaced pines create a cozy, forest-immersed experience, they also foster a sense of community among campers sharing this special grove.
Geological RegionNestled within the magnificent Bighorn National Forest, East Fork Campground showcases the region's signature lodgepole pine ecosystem. Mountain meadows carpeted with native grasses surround the campground, while the East Fork of Big Goose Creek and its tributary streams have carved gentle valleys through this ancient landscape, creating a tapestry of forest, water, and open sky that defines Wyoming's rugged beauty.
