Best season: summer. Summer offers the most reliable weather and full access to the campground and amenities — expect pleasant daytime highs around 60–75°F and cool nights in the 30s–40s, ideal for hiking, fishing, biking, and wildlife viewing. Water temperatures in the canyon lakes and streams are comfortable for fishing and the long daylight hours give you plenty of time to explore the high-country spruce and aspen forests. Crowds peak in July–August (sites and group areas fill quickly, especially after June 24),但 Peak months: July, August, June, September Avoid: October, November, December, January
Aspens turn gold in fall; scenic vistas make fall especially attractive though season is short.

Old Folks Flat Campground provides a variety of amenities for campers. The facility includes flush toilets and drinking water spigots, which have recently been upgraded. However, there is no electricity or garbage collection service available. The roads and parking spurs within the campground are gravel. Each site is equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings with grills, offering basic necessities for camping. According to multiple reviews, the bathrooms are generally clean but some users reported needing to clean them before use due to the absence of a camp host. Notably, there is no cell phone coverage, which some reviewers found inconvenient since certain on-site services require scanning a QR code for payment.
