About this campground

Perched high in the clouds at Cedar Breaks National Monument, Point Supreme Campground offers an intimate escape where pristine mountain air meets breathtaking vistas. This hidden gem provides modern amenities in a spectacular alpine setting, with trailheads just steps from your tent that lead to unforgettable adventures along the rim of nature's grand amphitheater.
Point Supreme Campground offers primarily tent and RV camping options. Sites vary in size and can accommodate a range of setups within its 25-site loop.
Historical SignificanceCedar Breaks National Monument stands as Utah's best-kept secret, offering the same stunning geological wonders as its famous neighbors Bryce Canyon and Zion, but with a fraction of the crowds. This natural amphitheater has captivated visitors for generations with its otherworldly formations and serves as a testament to millions of years of geological artistry.
Weather and SeasonsSummer days bring perfect hiking weather with temperatures hovering between 60-70°F, while crisp mountain nights drop to a refreshing 30-40°F—ideal for campfire stories and stargazing. Afternoon thunderstorms roll through regularly, painting dramatic skies and filling the air with the scent of rain-soaked pine, though campers should stay weather-aware for lightning safety.
ElevationAt a breathtaking 10,000 feet above sea level, Point Supreme rewards visitors with naturally cool summer temperatures and crystal-clear mountain air. The high altitude creates a refreshing retreat from desert heat below, though newcomers should take time to adjust to the thinner air before tackling ambitious hikes.
Natural Features and SceneryTowering spruce forests give way to vibrant wildflower meadows that burst with color each summer, creating a stunning contrast against the rust-red amphitheater below. From your campsite at 10,000 feet, witness nature's sculpture garden where ancient hoodoos stand like sentinels in the painted desert canyon, their forms constantly shifting in the changing light.
Geological RegionPoint Supreme sits atop the western rim of Cedar Breaks' magnificent natural amphitheater, where 10,000 feet of elevation creates a unique ecosystem blending alpine meadows with ancient forests. Below, millions of years of erosion have carved a three-mile-wide canvas of crimson spires, orange hoodoos, and lavender fins that seem to glow in the setting sun.
