Natural Features and SceneryThe lake sits in a natural basin carved by glacial activity, surrounded by mixed conifer forest growing on ancient volcanic soils. Douglas firs, noble firs, and mountain hemlocks provide shade and privacy throughout the campground. The lake's calm surface creates a mirror image of Mount Hood's snowcapped peak, especially dramatic at sunrise and sunset. Wildlife includes ospreys diving for trout and deer grazing near the shoreline. The entire landscape tells the story of the Cascade Range's volcanic and glacial history, with Mount Hood's presence dominating every view.
Lodging & AccommodationsThe campground does not offer hotel-style lodging accommodations. Accommodation types are limited to campsites for tents and RVs.
Programs & ActivitiesEducational programs are held on weekends during the summer, often at the amphitheater. Topics covered include local history and natural features.
