Best Time to Camp at Delaware State Park Campground

Summer is the busiest season. Daytime highs settle in the mid-70s to low-90s°F, nights cool to the 60s, and the shade keeps sites comfortable despite Ohio humidity. The beach and marina are popular, weekends book up fast, and you'll want insect repellent for evenings. Spring and fall bring fewer crowds, cooler temperatures, and excellent wildlife viewing. One blogger found plenty of open sites and peaceful conditions in late fall. Winter day-use visitors report good scenery and birding, but campground services are limited and bathrooms near the water close for the season.

Planning Tips

    About Delaware State Park Campground

Delaware State Park Campground sits beneath a canopy of mature hardwoods about three miles inside the park off US-23, north of the city of Delaware. The campground offers electric-only sites (30 and 50 amp) on paved pads with generous tree cover and spacing. Campers consistently praise the shaded, well-maintained sites and clean facilities, though highway and train noise reaches some loops and most recreation areas require a short drive.
