Best season: spring. Spring offers the most comfortable weather and the best overall access to the dunes — daytime highs are typically in the 50s–70s°F with cool nights often 30s–40s, making hiking, biking and OHV runs much more pleasant than blistering summer days. Wildflowers and migrating birds enliven the desert flats and lakeshores, and water temperatures warm enough for swimming later in the season. Crowds are generally lower than summer, so you get quieter dune time and easier site availability (note the park Peak months: May, June, September Avoid: November, December, January, February

The Egin Lakes Campground features 48 developed campsites with various amenities, including electric hookups, picnic shelters, fire rings, and tables at each site. Facilities include 7 water hydrants, 6 double vault toilets, an RV dump station, and concessions. The campground also offers three parking areas (day use, overflow, and equestrian) and an OHV unloading ramp. "Accessible amenities" include vault toilets and parking areas. The site is popular for its proximity to the St. Anthony Sand Dunes.
