About this campground
Escape to Group Landing, a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of Osceola National Forest where privacy meets adventure. This exclusive group camping retreat combines the comforts of modern amenities—including electrical hookups, fresh water, and a sheltered picnic area—with the raw beauty of Florida's wilderness. Your group will discover their own private sandy beach stretching along pristine waters, perfect for swimming, paddling, or simply soaking in the serenity. Bear-proof garbage facilities ensure wildlife stays wild while you enjoy uninterrupted connection with nature and each other.
Group Landing is designed primarily for group camping. It accommodates a variety of camping styles, including RVs and tents, and features large, centralized spaces for group activities.
Historical SignificanceCamp where history echoes through the pines. Just a short drive away, the Olustee Battlefield stands as a powerful reminder of Florida's Civil War legacy, marking the site of the state's most significant battle. Adventure seekers will find themselves at a crossroads of natural and cultural exploration, with the legendary Florida National Scenic Trail winding through the area, inviting hikers to follow in the footsteps of countless explorers who've traversed these ancient paths.
Weather and SeasonsExperience Florida's dynamic sub-tropical personality throughout the year at Group Landing. Summer brings dramatic afternoon thunderstorms that cool the landscape and create spectacular sky shows, while spring and fall offer those perfect camping days with crystal-clear skies and comfortable temperatures. Plan your visit wisely—the notorious yellow flies make their presence known during May and June, but don't let these temporary residents deter you from experiencing this natural paradise during the rest of the year's glorious weather windows.
ElevationRest easy at sea level in this quintessentially Floridian landscape. Group Landing sits at the gentle, low-lying elevation characteristic of the Sunshine State's interior, where the land meets water in perfect harmony and the horizon stretches endlessly through the pine forests.
Natural Features and SceneryWake up to a masterpiece painted by nature herself. Group Landing graces the shores of magnificent Ocean Pond, where towering pines create cathedral-like canopies overhead and ancient cypress trees draped in ethereal Spanish moss stand as sentinels along the water's edge. This is where Florida's wild heart beats strongest—watch for prehistoric alligators gliding through the shallows, listen for the symphony of native birds filling the air with song, and witness the ever-changing canvas of light dancing across the water from dawn to dusk.
Geological RegionDiscover your basecamp in the ecological wonderland of Osceola National Forest, where Ocean Pond—one of Florida's most stunning freshwater lakes—serves as your backyard. This remarkable landscape showcases the best of Florida's sub-tropical environment: majestic pine forests rise from ancient soils, weathered cypress trees adorned with Spanish moss create fairy-tale scenes along the shoreline, and the entire ecosystem pulses with the rhythm of a region shaped by water, time, and the persistent Florida sun.
