About this campground

Nestled deep within the Prescott National Forest, Eagle Ridge Group Campground offers an escape into nature's embrace with two spacious group sites—Osprey and Peregrine—perfect for gatherings under towering ponderosa pines. Here, the scent of pine needles mingles with campfire smoke as your group settles into sites equipped with modern conveniences like electricity, alongside traditional camping essentials including fire rings and picnic tables. This secluded haven provides the ideal backdrop for creating lasting memories with friends and family.
Eagle Ridge Group Campground focuses on group camping with two reservable group sites: Osprey and Peregrine. The campground accommodates tents and RVs but does not provide hookups.
Historical SignificanceThe surrounding Bradshaw Mountains whisper tales of fortune seekers and frontier dreams, where prospectors once searched these hills for precious metals. Today's adventurers can still try their luck panning for gold in nearby Lynx Creek, following in the footsteps of miners who carved their stories into this landscape. Scattered throughout the region, remnants of historic mining operations offer glimpses into Arizona's wild past, making every hike a potential journey through time.
Weather and SeasonsSummer brings blissfully cool days under the forest canopy, where temperatures remain comfortable even as the desert below swelters. Late afternoons from June through September often deliver dramatic monsoon thunderstorms that roll through the mountains, filling the air with the fresh scent of rain on pine. As winter approaches, the highland climate transforms, bringing crisp mornings and the possibility of snow dusting the forest floor—a reminder that you're camping at mountain elevations.
ElevationPerched at 5,700 feet above sea level, this highland retreat offers a refreshing escape from desert heat. The elevation creates a unique microclimate where ponderosa pines thrive in cool mountain air, providing natural air conditioning and a completely different world from the valleys below. Here, you'll breathe easier in the thin mountain air while enjoying temperatures that can be 20 degrees cooler than lower elevations.
Natural Features and SceneryRising 5,700 feet into Arizona's sky, the campground sits within a tapestry of ponderosa pines interwoven with sturdy junipers and graceful oaks. Just a quarter-mile stroll leads to the sparkling waters of Lynx Lake, where osprey dive for fish and deer come to drink at dawn. This diverse ecosystem shelters an impressive array of wildlife—from the elusive mountain lions that patrol the ridges to playful foxes darting between the trees. The forest creates a natural amphitheater of sounds, from wind whispering through pine boughs to the distant call of birds echoing across the water.
Geological RegionThe campground rests within the rugged embrace of the Bradshaw Mountains, a geological wonderland within Prescott National Forest where ancient forces sculpted dramatic ridges and hidden valleys. At 5,700 feet, this mountain sanctuary showcases nature's vertical diversity—from dense stands of ponderosa pines to scattered junipers and hardy oaks that paint the landscape in varying shades of green. The crown jewel of the area, 55-acre Lynx Lake, mirrors the sky just moments from camp, creating a perfect harmony between mountain forest and pristine waters that defines this remarkable corner of Arizona.
